Shopping
The concept store: Colette

Colette is the indisputable spot for hipsters looking for the next big thing where it's always fun to go sniff out the trends. Why go there? For the book and DVD selection, the high tech accessories and more. This is where you're sure to find the perfect little (or big) gift. We also (especially) go for the excellent range of cosmetics by the exclusive brands we love, and the cutting edge fashion and jewellery collections. The iconic and very pleasant Water bar is in the basement and here's a thumbs up for the no fat cheesecake by Jean-Paul Hévin.

Essential shopping: Thank you, Merci
Merci is the "Colette" for the third millennium in a chic, bourgeois-bohemian version. Marie France Cohen, alias Madame Bonpoint, has created this new luxury spot with a charity shop concept. In this incredible space you'll find hot designers, luxury brands (Gas by Marie, Isabel Marant, Les Prairies de Paris, Aime and more.), and affordable trinkets and treats in the latest prints. And that's not all: There's a vintage space to customize your wardrobe to your tastes, an arty space with carefully chosen books and DVDs, fun jewellery that's too cute to resist and more. We love: the displays of environmentally correct dishware, the picnic corner, the wonderful interior design areas (for inspiration) and above all, the cafeteria for the calorie-conscious with salads, risottos and cheesecake for a chic, light snack!

The "neo-handmade" concept store: L’Effet Maison
What's the ultimate in chic and custom-made? Here, in the heart of the "neo-handmade" concept store where you can create your own products for every room in your house, from the kitchen to the bathroom. In the pastry section, you'll find everything you need for chic eating. Do you want to make your own chutney or maybe chocolates? Choose a kit with a recipe book, a little pastry syringe and Valhrona, the authentic cooking chocolate. Are you eco-cool? Use the machines and the incredible selection of sodas and syrups to make amazing drinks. In the garden, packets of seeds for a flowering winter balcony, or sprouts to grow your own plants. We can't resist ... kits for homemade beauty products or soaps that smell divine, with shea butter, essential oils, little scales and moulds stamped "home-made" to declare our new obsession. For big and little kids: everything including the moulds to make your own chocolate guimauves (French marshmallow treats).

The beauty place: L’Atelier du Sourcil
Beauty queens at heart should stop at the Atelier du Sourcil and eyebrow troubles will be just a vague memory for a month. For flirty doe eyes instead of panda make-up after saying "I do", try out the eyelash dyeing and enhancing treatment (about an hour). Visibly longer, curved and dark ... the results are both natural and spectacular! Prices: eyelash enhancement: €80 / Dyeing: €25

An offbeat British promenade: Marks and Spencer
Hurrah for Marks and Spencers - back in Paris on the Champs Elysées. We can't wait ... to shop for the ingredients of an English breakfast, the kind you can only get in London: lashings of bacon, cheddar to die for, all kinds of crazy fruit juices, super teas and especially the scones, crumpets and toasts to eat with lemon curd and orange marmalade. And don't forget the sausage and beans.
We also like: their fashion department with great prices. And they're open Sundays!

Shopping for wannabe geekettes: Audio Technica
We were shoe addicts and now we're becoming glam-tech junkies! There's good news for high-tech fashionistas. It's a thing of the past to find hip headphones only at Colette! We've discovered the real Mecca for fashion geekettes. Nippon is chic! Just a few steps away from the window displays of our favourite bags and shoes on rue Saint Honoré is a concept store with the Rolls-Royce of "made in Japan" headphones. Let's just say that Audio-Technica is to headphones what Hermès is to bags! The little extra? You don't need to be a millionaire to wear headphones with sound quality as good as your look. You'll find extra-punchy colours with eco-chic style in wood or even rabbit fur. We are not talking about nerdwear, these accessories will bring out your inner fashionista.
